The Xorcom Rapid Live-CD/USB is for tests and demonstrations and should not be used as
an operational PBX. All configuration changes made on the system will
be saved only in the RAM and will be erased upon reboot.

Xorcom Rapid Live CD program to create a fully-functional IP-PBX from a standard PC.
Simple 3-Step Installation

Connect your Astribank(s) to the USB 2.0 port of the computer.
- Insert the Xorcom Rapid Live-CD (or Live-USB) and restart the computer.
- When the menu is displayed, your Asterisk and Astribank(s) are running!
Xorcom Rapid Notes
- The computer boots directly from the Live-CD (or Live-USB). The hard drive is not affected at all.
- Do not forget to connect your Astribank to the main power supply.
- The Xorcom Rapid Live utility also detects and installs Digium and other
DAHDI devices.
- Wherever username and password are required, use the following values:
username: user
password: live
- To access the Web interface, enter the Asterisk computer's IP
address or name into your browser.
- Use the Hardware page to display your Astribanks and other DAHDI
hardware, and perform basic diagnostic operations.
- To log-in to the Asterisk configuration interface, use the link to
asterisk-gui.
- Use the console or remote terminal (AjaxTerm) to access the root or the
Xorcom Rapid menus. To work as root, after you have logged-in, type:
sudo -i
Installing the CD Version
If your computer does not boot from the CD, change the BIOS settings.
One of the BIOS options configures the computer to try booting first
from the CD.
Installing the USB Image
First you'll need to install the image onto a USB stick. See instructions at http://webconverger.org/usb/.
You will need to set the BIOS of the system to boot from the USB stick.
Once you do that, you can boot it just the same as from a CD.
Setting the Password
The live system automatically starts various services with a known username and password. This is a potential security risk that is mitigated mostly by the fact that this is not the system that would be typically used in production.
However, if you want to use a different password for the live system you can use one of the following methods:
- At boot use the extra boot parameter 'password=new_password'.
- On a running system, run the following command, as root:
echo live new_password | live-set-password
- (Applicable only for the USB stick version) Create the file live.cfg
on the top-level directory of the USB stick with the following line:
PASSWORD=new_password
Note that technically all three methods allow changing the name of the live user, but this is buggy and not supported. Also note that this feature is currently a not yet included in the standard Debian-Live, and thus may change in future versions.
