September 2, 2009 – Misgav, Israel and IT Expo West, Los Angeles, California – Xorcom, a privately-held manufacturer of business telephony interfaces and appliances based on Asterisk open source software, today announced that it has designed a second high speed 1G/sec Ethernet port into its IP-PBX offering. As a result, each IP-PBX can be connected to a different LAN switch, allowing the separation of data and VoIP traffic. Consequently, voice quality is improved and throughput is increased, while the probability of ‘split brain’ is decreased.

Built-in Servers Support IP Phone Provisioning

Both a DHCP server and a TFTP server are built into the Xorcom IP-PBX units, making it possible to use the additional Ethernet interface for SIP phones provisioning via a network which is separate from the company LAN. For TwinStar dual-server redundancy implementations, the independent DRBD synchronization and communication channels are split, with a cross cable between the primary and backup servers, to provide enhanced robustness for this full PBX redundancy solution.

Availability

The new dual Ethernet port models are available now as an optional factory-installed configuration (P/N XR0105) on both the XR2000 IP-PBX for SMB, and the XR3000 IP-PBX for enterprise.

Xorcom has developed a revolutionary concept in telephony interfaces for Asterisk systems which we call Astribank XPP Technology.

Using USB 2.0 ports to connect to any Asterisk server, Astribank eliminates the requirement for a PCI (E1/T1) card, and even for PCI slots.
