Fonality Announces trixbox CE Interoperability with Xorcom's Astribank |
USB-connected channel bank provides hot-swappable TDM expansion for trixbox CEFonality®, a leading provider of open source unified communication systems for businesses, today announced full interoperability for trixbox CE with the Astribank™ channel bank from Xorcom. Xorcom's Astribank provides businesses with a USB-based TDM expansion chassis for analog (FXO / FXS) or PRI trunks in an efficient form-factor. Using the Astribank channel bank, trixbox CE administrators who require more analog or PRI circuits than can be physically supported in a single 1U chassis can deploy additional trunks. Trunks are automatically configured for immediate use by the trixbox CE system via a standard USB 2.0 interface. "A typical 1U server has space for 2 PCI cards, and because of the thin design of blade servers, the PCI cards cannot be full-length. This means a blade is very limited regarding the amount and type of telephony ports it can support, but with the USB-connected Astribank channel bank, the number and type of telephony ports that can be supported is virtually unlimited," says Andrew Gillis, original founder of trixbox. "Additionally, because the Xorcom drivers are natively integrated into Asterisk, configuration with trixbox CE is automatic, rendering the solution truly plug-and-play and hot swappable. If I need to add another PRI, I just connect it to an Astribank PRI module via its external USB port and declare it as a route in my trixbox Admin Panel." The Astribank channel bank provides larger businesses tremendous opportunity for expansion at a fraction of the traditional cost of telephony equipment. The Astribank channel bank supports up to 32 analog ports and up to 144 PRI + FXS/FXO analog ports on a 19" 1U box (144 = quad E1 + 24 analog ports), high speed USB 2 connectivity, full support for fax machines, hot swappable architecture, and it is rack or wall mountable. The unit takes up only 32 U for 1000 ports compared to 84 U for a standard channel bank providing the same number of ports. Fonality has incorporated a mechanism in the trixbox CE GUI to enable its customers to expand their IP-PBX with additional analog and PRI telephony interfaces from Xorcom. The mechanism allows customers to design a system matching their requirements for type(s) and number of telephony ports. Customers can also submit a request for an Astribank quote from within the trixbox CE GUI. The turn-around time on quotes is typically within 1 business day. By certifying interoperability with trixbox CE, customers can enjoy the award-winning feature set of the trixbox platform and connect their entire existing TDM infrastructure immediately. trixbox CE has been downloaded over 3,000,000 times and is relied on for mission-critical telephony operations worldwide. Fonality continues to offer greater flexibility, choice, and features at a fraction of the cost of systems from other PBX vendors.
