IT Expo (Miami Beach, FL) and Teradyon, Israel – Xorcom, a privately-held manufacturer of business telephony appliances based on Asterisk® open-source software, today announced TwinStar™, its high availability solution for Asterisk-based PBX systems based on Xorcom’s XPP™ technology. TwinStar provides automatic detection of server failure and immediate switching of all telephony functions, including telephony interfaces, to a back-up server. This quick and automatic failover process keeps downtime to an absolute minimum. Today, at the IT Expo, the TwinStar was awarded "Best of Show" in the "Best On Site Product Launch" category.

XPP Technology by Xorcom

Xorcom has developed a revolutionary concept in telephony interfaces for Asterisk systems called XPP technology. Using USB 2.0 ports to connect to any Asterisk server, XPP technology eliminates the requirement for a PCI (E1/T1) card, and even for PCI slots. The USB architecture embodied in XPP technology affords many advantages, including the ability to build large systems that support hundreds of analog extensions, rapid set-up and easy maintenance. The new TwinStar dual server failover solution is yet another product of this unique technology.

Eliminating the Final Obstacle to Large Scale Implementation of IP-PBX

"While the functionality, cost-effectiveness, and ease of use of IP-based telephony have far surpassed the capabilities of last-generation PBX, the IP-PBX has yet to match the reliability of its predecessor," states Izzy Gal, VP Innovation at Xorcom. "We are confident that with our TwinStar solution, which provides dual server redundancy and an immediate and comprehensive failover solution for the telephony interfaces, we have eliminated the final obstacle preventing corporates from whole-heartedly embracing IP-PBX in general, and Asterisk-based systems in particular."

"Outstanding companies like Xorcom with their award winning solutions, help to validate ITEXPO's status as the leading forum in the communications industry," said TMC President and Conference Chairman, Rich Tehrani. "Service providers, enterprise buyers, developers, and resellers come to ITEXPO, because they know they'll find solutions, from innovative companies like Xorcom that can help their businesses today."

Availability

TwinStar will be available for general sale in Q2, 2009.
